1980 Grandis with 1982 Campagnolo SR Gruppo

The gentleman that had written to me from the United States asking me to visit Grandis to gather information about a 1980 Grandis has decided to now sell it after a complete restoration. When I visited Mario Grandis he disappeared into his
office with this photograph and later came out with these details:
-color is called "fuscia pastello"
-circa 1980, Grandis Speciale-frame Columbus SL; the fork is also Columbus
-it was made to measure for a customer at the time-all the lugs are microfusion type made by Grandis
-the brake and chainstay bridges are reinforced; the brake bridge is curved so its lower on the chainstays to give more strength between them (the lower the better he explained)
-there are reinforcements in the seattube and downtube in the area of the bottom bracket in order to make the frame stiffer in that area.

The complete restoration serves as a beautiful example of a 1980 Grandis, made here in Verona:

The components are: The rear derailleur, shift levers, brake blocks, seat post binder, Everest slotted chain, 52 and 42 SR chainrings, head set, pedals, toe staps, bars, stem, Mavic GL330 rims, and Sam Marco Concor saddle are NOS (new, Old Stock). The Phil Wood bb, Tufo elite tires w/Tufo flat proof and King stainless cage are new. All other components are used in excellent condition and are from the time period of the frame and group. The wheels were built by Master wheel builder Joe Young and are 36 hole Record Hi Lo's w/15-16 DT spokes. The freewheel is a Regina CX 13-21 six speed. Every component has been disassembled, cleaned and reassembled using the proper lube when not NOS. The frame dimensions are: ST c to c 61.5cm - TT c to c 59cm - HT 19.2cm - Stand Over 34inches - Crank length 172.5 - Stem length 115mm - Bars 42cm. Bike weight as in the pictures is 21.75 pounds.
